SharePoint 2013 's New Feature
- Image RenditionsImage Renditions is the new capability that can help us improve the user experience of website by optimizing images. We can have original (large) images stored in website and then define a number of scaled variants to be used throughout the website.
- Drag and Drop documentsOn any document library we can Drag and Drop the document and it will be uploaded with a quick progress bar. Simply select a document from local and drag it towards the document library.
- VersioningWe can version entire SharePoint site. Means, we can freeze the active version, then create a new version, implement changes to that new version and set the active version to the new site we changed.
- WorkflowSharePoint 2013 offers a new workflow service called Windows Azure Workflow. It is built on the WWF components of .NET Framework 4.5. Workflows created in SP 2010 will continue to work in SharePoint 2013.
- Push NotificationsSharePoint 2013 supports push notifications for clients such as mobile phones. These clients register with SharePoint and then subscribe to notifications from the server. Subscriptions for Push notifications are scoped to individual sites.
- Metro UIEasier to use and snazzy UI. Tiles in site collections displays more information when you hover mouse over them.
- ThemesA new theming engine and better graphical user modification options. Everything is based on HTML instead of proprietary format, support for newer standards like HTML5 and CSS3. PowerPoint is no longer used to create themes for site collections.
- Social NetworkingThe list of new features is extensive: Micro Blogs, Activity Feeds, Community sites, Following, Likes and Reputations.
